Thank you for visiting the blog. This is where you should be able to find out about the latest & greatest from Christine Gallagher photography. However, I am a terrible blogger. I can’t spell, I have writers block more times then not and I have decided it is best to leave the blogging world behind. I do however, do social media very well and you can see the latest and greatest on my Facebook page!

My blog will remain live, for google purposes. All the links work but it is best to check out my website at: www.christinegallagher.net, for my current work and information.

Thanks!

Youth is when you’re allowed to stay up late on New Year’s Eve. Middle age is when you’re forced to. ~Bill Vaughn

2012 was the first year I ever made a resolution and stuck to it, my resolution was to always replace the toilet paper roll. Not the most compelling resolution, but I am proud of myself none the less! I haven’t decided on what 2013′s resolution will be, or even if I should try to rival such an accomplishment as always replacing the TP roll.

These days, staying awake long enough to see the ball drop is something to celebrate. My kids however, anticipate this day all year. It is after all, the ONLY night of the year, that they can stay up until midnight! Don’t you remember how exciting that was when you were a kid? They love all the crazy hats, confetti & noise makers! And the kids, well they have the ability to make even me see the value in spending $20 at party city!

May 2013 be funfetti worthy for all of us! Happy New Year!

A few months ago, my 10 year old son came to me and said; Mom, I want blue hair. Now, I am a fun mom, I think outside the box when it comes to them expressing themselves but blue hair… that is outside my comfort zone. I took a facebook poll on whether I should let him and a wise friend posted…pick your battles wisely.

Well, my son is a wonderful young man, he opens the door for others, he says please, thank you, Yes Sir, No Ma’am. He works hard at school and he does his homework willingly. So when you really think about it, why not let him? There will be bigger battles down the road, ones that will send him to his room angry & leave me in tears… ones that will make me question why I wanted to be a parent in the first place. This I know, as I haven’t ever met a parent who said the teenage years were a cake walk.

So… I am now the proud mother of a sweet, blue hair boy and it actually suits him very well!

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.
~Calvin Coolidge

There is no denying the magic that this time of year brings. Regardless of your faith, how close you are to your families, if you are a parent, or not. There is something in the air, something undefinable. This year, my youngest learned the truth about the man in the red suit. It broke her heart, heck… it broke my heart. I didn’t want the magic to die for her. I explained to her, that sometimes, even when we know something is not real, it is important to believe. Important to believe in the magic, that as long as we believe, in a sense, the man in story will live on inside us. Life offers so many wonderful things, this holiday season, I am thankful for the magic that my children bring into my life. And someday, as my daughter is watching her children experience all that is amazing & magical during the holidays, she will definitely believe again! Merry & Christmas and Happy Everything! Love, Christine

All too often I hear clients say, “we just want the disk of images” and we will make our own album. I will promise you this, that album will never get made. And if it does… it will be nothing like having a professionally printed, hand crafted, album from your photographer. A wedding album becomes a family heirloom, a piece of art that tells the story of your wedding day and will be reflected upon for many anniversaries to come. Sure, I like to read books on my ipad, but it will never replace the feel, the smell or the value of a printed book. Wedding images are no different, they deserve better then sitting in a folder on your PC. Below is a montage of Laura & Richard’s hand crafted cypress album. It is a true representation of their wedding day in the highlands, right down to the ribbon on the presentation box, which is the ribbon from her wedding day! The pewter silk is a classic, one of my favorites for sure! As a photographer, having my work presented in such a manor is very rewarding, I am sure my face was beaming with pride as I opened this album. It took my images and turned them into a piece of art…. okay, okay, I will stop gushing now.

Ahhhh, summer has kept us busy busy with weddings & family. While it has been a blast, I am just about ready for school to start back and life to be back on schedule. Jessica & J.P were married June 23rd at The Georgian Terrace and shamefully, I am blaming my kids and the endless days of sunshine on the delay on getting these posted. I am sure Jessica will understand, she is a teacher after all. I don’t believe there is a single image we captured that day that showed Jessica with anything less then an ear to ear grin, she was clearly a happy bride! Jessica, here is a sneak peek, which I am sure you are gonna love. I can’t wait to share more with everyone soon. Happy Dog Days of Summer to all!
