Maternity Portraits

Liz & Scott contacted me to photograph their wedding a few years back. At first I was a little taken back, because Liz is a wedding photographer herself, and typically we know exactly who we’d hire for our wedding (way before a wedding is even a thought). I didn’t know Liz, and it was an honor and a shock when she wanted me to photograph her wedding. It was on Thanksgiving Day, at Barnsley Gardens, and it was stunning. A dozen family members or so and lots of pictures! Since then, we have become friends. I adore her family and her two cute pups. She has worked with me on occasion and she has photographed my family (see about me page). So it only seemed fitting that I photograph them when they were expecting their first child!

Baby Lucy has made her way into the world and already her parents have predicted her world domination. Gotta LOVE┬áthat! Liz & Scott joined me, on a moments notice one early morning in Grant Park, for this session. It was a rare few days of fog in Atlanta and I was feeling inspired. Fog creates a softness in images that makes almost anything seem… mystic. I just love how Liz & Scott know how to “ham it up” for the camera! I heart you guys!

I am not much for New Years resolutions. As a matter of fact, it is now late February as I am writing this, so that definitely shows that had I made an attempt at a resolution… I would failed. What I did instead of a resolution, was to simply “put it out there” in the world, that I wanted to focus more on finding my way back to photography on a personal level. And while my post is late, I have been happy with the progress I have made, thus far. Baby steps, right?

Last month, I took some maternity pictures of a friend (more to come on that) and that afternoon, I decided to torture my daughter, by asking her to model while I played around with a new camera. She whined, and complained. She is 11 after all. It is my job as her mother, to be annoying. She allowed me to take about 30 images before she was DONE! But in reality, you only need a few images to say something.

McKenna is a headstrong, creative, beautiful little girl. She would tell you; she is a triple threat. She would be referring to singing, dancing and acting. I would however; call her a triple threat of beauty, brains and boldness! She is every thing I wished I had been at her age and more. And I will have you know, that after all that fuss… she was more then THRILLED to use these images on her instagram page, go figure!

There are two gifts we should give our children; one is roots, and the other is wings.

Hi Y’all ,

I am reworking somethings on my site, blog to come. Stay tuned.
